Soul Survivor: Statement from the organiser.
“Soul Survivor has hosted two of its five-day festivals for teenagers at the East of England Arena and Events Centre for three years and we have been sad to hear that this week some residents have been disturbed by the sound at certain times during our event.
As this is our last summer after 26 years of festivals we have had a far higher than usual volume of visitors which has changed some of the ways we have structured the event with the unintended consequence that we’ve been louder than usual.
We have taken your concerns on board and are working with our sound engineers to do all we can to reduce the impact on the surrounding area during our second event which begins at 7pm on Friday.
We recognise that there will be a higher volume of sound during our main meetings in the mornings and evenings and these will all be finished by 10pm. Because it’s our final year we will finish on Tuesday 27th August with a short firework display. The fireworks will take place at 9.50pm and will be finished by 10pm at the latest. They will be located on the west of the site, away from residential areas.
We have found the Showground facilities a great place to create a safe space for teenagers and we’re genuinely sorry to have caused upset during our final year. If you have any concerns during the event please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. Likewise, if you’d like to find out a bit more about the work we do with young people we’d be very happy to show you around the site during the event. Please do get in touch via email.?”
