The East of England Arena and Events Centre has announced it will be supporting the Great Eastern Run on Sunday 16th October 2022, for the first time and with a significant donation.
The Great Eastern Run consists of a 5K fun run and a half marathon, and has always been one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the local running calendar — with a fast, flat route that’s perfect for beating personal bests. The East of England Arena and Events Centre joins other regional institutions, like BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Peterborough City Council, and Sue Ryder, in their support for this famous and popular community running event which first began in 1982.
Lee Sharp, managing director, East of England Arena, said, “The Great Eastern Run is a landmark event for the region. It brings people of all ages and backgrounds together, breaking down barriers and building friendships. For these reasons, and many more, it’s a hugely popular event that attracts thousands of runners and spectators every year, for nearly 40 years. We’re tremendously proud to be able to support this event for the first time.”
